I was born and raised in a Catholic family, but I have to admit, lately I’ve become one of those people that all Catholics dread….A CHREASTER! Yea…I didn’t know what that word meant either, but my Aunt Shannon liked to throw it around a lot when I was a kid. A Chreaster is a person who only goes to church on Christmas and Easter, therefore making it difficult for the regulars to sit in their pew of choice. In Ohio, we don’t have a lot going on, so we get really worked up over these kinds of things.
Another Catholic practice that I’m really crappy at is the Lenten sacrifice. I’m probably going to hell, but I usually choose to give something up for Lent that will help kickstart my Spring Break diet. You know, it’s great to give up foods that will decrease the waistline and hip area. So, what should it be this year? Chocolate? Carbs? Fatty Foods? Food in general? It starts today… clearly I’m behind! HELP!
And just so the fam doesn’t have a panic attack while reading this, Grace (our little angel) is forcing me to go get ashes today. So I’m more like a Chrashter (Christmas, Ash Wednesday, and Easter church goer). Take that Aunt Shannon!
