Day 242: BeeeeYOUUUtiful

So, I have to play catch up today and write two blog posts.  I’m usually more of a sarcastic asshole, but I keep hearing and seeing inspirational quotes, conversations, and pictures that go so well together, I should have to kick myself if I didn’t post it.

The topic: YOU.

It started out at dinner the other evening, when I was telling a friend about my LA experience, the struggles with auditioning, blogging daily, and just trying to find what is right for me out here. We started talking about how you cannot compare your experience to anyone else’s because there is only one person that is YOU. Trying to be something you are not, or someone you think you need to be, is not interesting. Only you can be interesting because you are an original.

Upon arriving home, I checked facebook (obviously), and the first post I saw was this:

Be You. So easy.

Tonight at yoga, the instructor, again touched on the subject and quoted this:

You were born with potential.
You were born with goodness and trust.
You were born with ideals and dreams.
You were born with greatness.
You were born with wings.
You are not meant for crawling, so don’t.
You have wings.
Learn to use them and fly!

A little cheesy for my taste, but it went along with the theme. We also touched on the fact that every day is a new day, and each morning is a fresh start to accomplish exactly what you put your mind to.

Then, I got a text from a guy I worked with last week, saying it was nice to meet you, “keep being you.” Seriously the same message, over and over.

So, whether you are reading this tonight before bed, first thing in the morning, or never, remember you are special and an original! SO ENJOY JUST BEING YOURSELF.

Love,
Cassie

Day 241: Brother for Sale, Only 50 Cents

Remember those Mary Kate and Ashley home videos? They had the best songs and stories, I promise! I used to watch them for hours with Gracie, even after she fell asleep!

I was reminded of my childhood last night while grabbing drinks with an old pal from Jr High, that now lives in LA.

The reason Mary Kate and Ashley were on my mind was because I wanted to do the greasy, dirty, homeless hairdo they constantly rock. We actually ended up talking about MK and A during the evening…apparently he used to party with them and they were scandalous. No shocker there.

Anyway, they always have the best center part, messy do, which I believe to be quite successful.

Here’s how it’s done.

Step 1: All I did was wash my hair with Herbal Essence Drama Clean Shampoo. It makes your hair super flat and kinky, not a great buy if you lack volume, but does the job for me:

Step 2: Grease the center part. I used this product, which is supposed to be used on damp hair, but it’s really sticky and I prefer it on dry hair. Just push the center part flat like Alfalfa in The Little Rascals, which they are doing a remake of by the way.

Step 3: Last, I sprayed the ends with this Paul Mitchell hairspray the Toland’s left behind in Las Vegas :) . I’m enjoying it, so thanks!!

Here’s a preview of the night:

Dance party while getting ready

Bartender Ted with a straight up mullet:

The night ended up being a blast, both my dance party while getting ready, and getting kicked off the bar for dancing late night. Girls are only young (ish) once!

Cassie’s MKA Look: AG Jeans, Halston Heritage top, (blogged about here: blog), Steven heels, and vintage jewelry.

Day 240: MJ Day

Today would have been Michael Jackson’s 54th birthday, so I decided to dedicate the blog to some of Michael’s greatest moments, both in fashion and in speech.

He was hyper aware to the problems in the world and tried his best to promote change through his music and dance. I respected him more than almost any other artist for that reason.

Some of Michael’s best thoughts:

“If you enter this world knowing you are loved and you leave this world knowing the same, then everything that happens in between can be dealt with.”

“The greatest education in the world is watching the masters at work.” I thought that was brilliant and so true in what I’ve experienced in life thus far.

“I have always been a dreamer. I set goals for myself. I look at things and try to imagine what is possible and then hope to surpass those boundaries.”

“To give someone a piece of your heart, is worth more than all the wealth in the world.”

There are so many important things he said, it’s hard to just narrow down to just a few.

My favorite videos:

My fav MJ Looks:

What a legond. I will definitely be watching the most amazing movie, This Is It, and thinking of MJ today. We could use more passionate, talented artists like Michael these days.

“I believe we are powerful, but we don’t use our minds to full capacity. Your mind is powerful enough to help you attain whatever you want.”

Day 239: A Secretary is NOT a Toy

I was auditioning to be a paralegal today, so I pulled together my best looking office wear: GUCCI!

One of my all time favorite musicals is “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.” Matthew Broderick was the star and I just love him. More recently Daniel Radcliffe did the role, ehh.

If I look awkward in my pics, it is because the lawn man was standing directly in front of me trying to cut the grass, and 12 construction men were across the street hooting and hollering. Let’s just say it was a reallllly quick shoot.

Cassie’s Secretarial Look: Dress by Rachel Roy, heels by Gucci.

Day 238: DIY Bday

Not sure when I decided to be such a DIY girl…since I can’t do ANYTHING by myself!

I had this great idea to make a personalized jeans jacket for Grace for her bday, which means I had this great idea for Tars to make a personalized jeans jacket for Grace. I can’t really sew. At all.

Plaid is so in for fall, and I was inspired by pieces like these:

Free People:

Runway:

Michael Kors:

Here’s my version of Gracie’s Bday Gift, not quite finished. Studding will go last. Fabric from JoAnns, Jeans jacket from Forever 21.

Both sides will be completed, obviously.

No Cassie pics today because of lack of makeup and sleep! Hanging with these little angels (monsters) all day! So fun! Pillow fight!

Day 237: Gracie Day

It’s another two part blog day, my laziness surprises me more and more as the months go on! Let’s dedicate this special day to Gracie for her 17th birthday! Whoo hoo!

Grab a beer like Nick and throw your hands in the air! (well…not you Grace).

You can’t really do anything new or different at 17, but just enjoy the ride!

Since your real sister looks a hot mess this morning, let’s just post your “made up” family.

Ok well, those were the only pictures I could  find on the home computer, so we will just make this do for blog #1.

Happy Bday Gracie!

Day 236: Lady Boy

I swear you probably think I’m making things up, but the strangest things happen in my life.

1. I arrived to the airport more than 30 min prior to my flight, and actually made it! Whoo! 4:55am is like Satan’s hour.

2. In the Detroit airport, I accidentally walked in on a beautiful blonde woman in the bathroom. The door wasn’t shut all the way, so I assumed no one was in there. This woman was standing up to pee, turned around and smiled at me, and I realized she was holding “her junk.” Soooo not a lady after all. Strangest airport bathroom experience of my life. I think I’m scarred.

3. Dad was wearing a safari outfit. All tan. The tan man. Tars, you should make it home more often and set the boundaries. Tan and tan are a NO NO!

Cassie’s Travel Look: Shoes by Zara, Jeans by Paige, Shirt Forever 21, bracelets Aldo.

Day 235: Drowsy NyQuil High

Cold meds can make a person all kinds of crazy.

Today I could barely make a sentence, showed up to acting class on the wrong night, got lost driving in my neighborhood, amongst other stupid things.

The DayQuil box said “non-drowsy,” which I believe to be a complete lie.

Unless I’m just completely brainless and dumb, I’m going to blame all today’s mistakes on “drowsy.” What a good word.

While shopping for Gracie’s bday, I stumbled upon this Chloe bag. I know it’s not my birthday, but if you loved me, you’d gift this to me.

Cassie’s Drowsy Look: Leather Free People shorts, Jean Michel Cazabat shoes, Zara top, Urban Outfitter glasses, Savers watch and Kate Spade bangles.

Day 234: I’m a STUNT man…

B-B-B-Be Bop a Bodda Bop, Bop a Bodda Bop…. I’m a STUNT man.

Yesterday I did stunts on a tv show, which included hanging with guys all day, being shot at with stunt guns, and being choked. I’d say it was pretty eventful.

What you should know about Stunt Men, (now that I’ve been one).

They wear lots of padding.

Sexy:

No really- I just stood there screaming while everyone around me did work. I did end up with some battle wounds though:

These may or may not have happened in the trailer. Looks like  a paper cut. Hmm.

All in all, a fun day.

Day 233: Dirrrrty

I could be talking about my favorite Christina Aguilera song, where she looks stunning….

Or I could be talking about the 25th anniversary of my favorite movie, Dirty Dancing! I prefer the latter.

Both feature women with a lot of belly exposed.

I thought I’d join in. I’m just not leaving my backyard! Here’s my take:

Cassie Loves Dirty Dancing Look: Keds Forever 21, Jeans Paige, Blouse H&M, J Crew necklace, Sunnies from Urban Outfitters.
