Day 182: iSPOTtude and TomKat

Is anyone else extremely sad about Tom and Katie? Probs not, we all knew that marriage was a set up from the start. I actually remember spying on Tom and Katie when they were swimming in the Salisbury Quarry, next to my house (Katie is from Toledo! Her bro is my neighbor). Tars had the wide lens out creeping in the bush. Paparazzi! No jk. We def thought about it though.

Ok, so I spotted this super funky kid at an audition today. He rocked spiky hair and a tad of a mullet, but was adorbs. He is a 10-yr old hip hop dancer from Hawaii and goes by the name of Julian Hott. The kid was dressed to the nines, almost like a boy version of  one of the  ”Toddlers in Tiaras,” (but closer to Eminem form). He was super cute, so I,  again, snapped a creeper pic. Sending you well wishes in the universe kid! Thanks for inspiring my hard rock look today.

I also creeped on some dance vids, his dad told me I could look him up :)

He has tude. I have tude.  Wehavetude.

Day 181: Remembering Nora Ephron

I was very sad to hear of the passing of writer, producer, and director Nora Ephron. Movies like, ‘Sleepless in Seattle,’ ‘You’ve Got Mail,’ ‘Julie and Julia,’ and specifically, ‘When Harry Met Sally’ were personal favorites of mine.

I was introduced to ‘When Harry Met Sally’ by my dear friend Ali Kowalski, who danced along side me as a bookend in almost every dance routine from the age of 14-18. We were mean girls together…not gonna lie. We were always in the dance teacher’s office taking teenager, “time outs.” Fun times.  Ali loved the movie, and would put it on to fall asleep at sleepovers.

We then reconnected in NYC. Ali is now a budding jewelry designer, amongst other things: master chef, spiritual being, best hat collector I know, pullout couch- sharer (many a night I crashed at her Brooklyn abode), seamstress, and great friend. It’s been awhile, but hearing of Nora Ephron’s death, reminded me of my dear friend.

Day 180: #ActorProblems (in the 1920s)!

I am a little woozy today, having stayed up until 3am taping a self submission for an audition, so my thoughts are everywhere. I was in a bind around midnight, when my agency said I needed to redo the tape. I texted several friends, and the first to respond, my old dance pal Julie, said she would come over with her boyfriend, Omar. Omar has never acted a day in his life, but was so hysterical, and loved every second!

1. He was really serious. His first comment, “The doctor is supposed to say ‘yes,’ but I’m getting realllly confused because I just want to say ‘ya’.” No probs Omar. You are just reading!

2. He was so nervous. He kept saying, “OMG I can’t even listen to you because I forget what to say next.” That’s what the paper is for Omar. You are the reader! You can look at it!

3. His girlfriend came and sat next to us, and he was so flustered we had to restart. It was quite funny and he totally reminded me of this commercial.

Second thought. I found this adorable silent film about a girl with a Prada fetish on twitter. It stars actress Chloe Sevigny and is about dance and fashion. Right up my alley! It inspired today’s look and the fake bob, which is oh so fun!

Other stars rocking the faux bob:

Penelope Cruz

Katy Perry

Tay Swift

My hero, Diane Kruger

Too much fun for 9am:

To achieve the look: Curl the ends of your hair, roll under, and bobby pin on the inside. Voila! Simple!

Day 179: Gratitude

Ihavetude. Gratitude. Latitude. Multitude. Longitude. Solitude. Yes, I like words that end in tude.

Yesterday’s yoga class, with the amazing Karen at Corepower, was all about gratitude and  appreciating what you are grateful for. Though it sounds cheesy, I was in a sort of funk upon entering class, and left a positive mentality. Or attiTUDE (if you will). Throughout class we were doing heart opening exercises to release negativity and stress. It was so beautiful (I told you yesterday I’ve turned into a hippie. I was serious). I actually dedicated the class to being thankful and grateful for my creativity. Here are some other creative people I’ve stumbled upon, that I would like to share:

1. I tweeted this video yesterday, but still can’t get enough of it today. I love the concept (and song!). Spoiler: I’m totally choreographing to this.

2. At the car wash I discovered these adorable magnets by Curly Girl Design. I actually didn’t even realize that I have several cards (one for Grace coming up) another spoiler, by this same designer. Show your gratitude to the ones you love. Send a card! It beats getting an email. Incoming for my pen pal Una shortly!

A fellow actor I met at a workshop was rocking the coolest Jeffrey Campbell shoes. I again, acted like a creeper, and asked to photograph her feet. :) Loving creative toes! Thanks for sharing Raiza. Follow her on twitter @raizalicea. Jeffrey Campbell Tick shoe in White Tribal.

Some other Jeffrey Campbell shoes you should totally pick up!

Cassie’s YES for Gratitude Look: Shoes by Doc Martin, Skirt gifted to Grace by H&M, Shirt by Forever 21, Bracelets by H&M.

Day 178: Mr. Brown is Upside Down

Mr. BROWN Mrs. BROWN Mr. Brown upside down.

Pup up. Brown down. Pup is down. Where is Brown?

WHERE IS BROWN? THERE IS BROWN!

Mr. Brown is out of town.

-Dr Seuss, Hop on Pop

I don’t know why this outfit reminded me of Mr. Brown, maybe because Dr. Seuss was a hippie and I feel like one too! Whatever the case, here’s my Mr. Brown look. Also I ran across these other childhood favs at the bookstore last week. My mom read them to me, and I read them to Gracie (don’t even think about what I’m thinking. NO BABIES POUR MOI. At least not anytime soon!)

Do you remember any of these?

Mr. Brown and Mr. Black.

J’adore!

Day 177: Jinxy Cat

Remember Jinx the Cat in Meet the Parents? I met a real life Jinky Cat…well his name is Teacup, but he acted just like Jinx! My girlfriend, Marlena treats this cat like a human. It’s even potty trained!! Things I learned about Jinxy Cat in the middle of the night:

a. He likes to knock everything out of it’s place. I made the mistake of setting things on the kitchen table, and by the morning, everything had met the floor. During the night we would hear, “splat. Splat. Big SPLAT,” and knew we were screwed.

b. He sleeps like a human. Marlena was telling a horror story about a man in La Jolla that has been molesting runners early in the morning, and just when she got to the scary part, Jinxy Cat grabbed my leg and half pulled me out of bed. I screamed and woke up the entire beach town. Great timing Jinxy Cat!

c. He likes to sleep on faces. I was sleeping with my head to the left, and went to turn to the right and coughed up an enormous hairball. Jinxy cat was chilling with his ass right on my face.

d. Lastly, I went to the bathroom in the middle of the night and didn’t want to flush and wake everyone up, so I just put down the lid. TOTALLY forgot Jinxy Cat goes on the actual toilet, and woke up to a mess! Such a Meet the Parents moment!

Thanks Jinx for entertaining us through the night, (and through the blog)!

Sneak peek from today’s test shoot at the fair, flea market, and the beach!! All outfits from Anthropologie!!

Day 176: San Diegooo

Today:

1. Hung out with Santa Claus at a casting. Pretty early for Christmas, but reminded me of my days as a Rockette, singing Christmas Carols in October or June?!

2. Drove to San Diego in solid traffic. Fun four hour times.

3. Traveled down the beach like a tourist, embarrassing my friends.

4. Had a lovely night in the hot tub, gagging on homemade deer sausage and cheap, sweet wine. Nasty.

5. Settled down with a real life record player, singing tunes by Bon Iver. Love girls weekends.

I dig life.Little MermaidOctopus vs Deer Sausage. Your pick?Ow Ow Thong Song

Night out on the town. Great lighting on the schnoz.

Cassie’s Traveling Looks: Shirt and Tank by Zara and Silence + Noise, Jeans by Diesel, Shorts by Zara, Aquarius necklace from Urban Outfitters, Glasses by Free People, Shoes by Jeffrey Campbell.

Day 175: Underwater World

Disclaimer: I’m not a professional photographer. I just try to be one.

I found these stunning shots on one of my favorite blogs: Honestly WTF. Though I have no desire to ruin my clothes in the pool, I will anyway for your enjoyment. I thought about getting an underwater disposable camera, but then remembered that that sounded like a lot of work, printing, scanning, uploading, etc. SO here is my best attempt at an ABOVE WATER shoot, inspired by the original. Hopefully your brain will just assume that I am under water.

Credits: Photographer Isle Moore, Collection Feline Bush.

Another shot I love: (Unfortunately it’s from Instagram and I can’t credit appropriately! From some magazine spread I’m sure! ha!)

My attempt (please don’t judge my dancing skills based on flexers and sickled feet) I’m no swimmer, oK?!

And of course, the less graceful shots: OUTTAKES

Undies meets Blowfish.

Cassie’s Part of Your World Look: Purple dress by Guess, bracelet Urban Outfitters. Orange dress by Lush, Necklace vintage.

And make sure to invite your friends to check out the blog!

Day 174: Michelle Obama is my Twin!

I discovered the “Hollywood Makeover” today on Instyle.com, and became severely addicted. All you do is upload a photo, and you can instantly become any celebrity you want! You can even change your eye color, lips, add fake eyelashes, etc. If you have several hours to kill on facebook, twitter, or the like, check it out: http://www.instyle.com/instyle/makeover! Chances are the images below will give you nightmares.

Michelle Obama

Hottie.

Amanda Seyfried

I borrowed Bozo the Clown’s blush

I could keep playing for hours, but the software is kind of slow, so each pic takes wayy too long! Hopefully they will get the kinks worked out soon!

Real life Cassie:

“Whattt I’m a nerd. Judge me.”

Sex Face. OOH.

Day 173: Fit for a Queen

When I grow up, I want to live at Bloomingdales. Like for real. I actually did a rather creepy thing today. I imagined myself living in the bathroom at Bloomies, specifically, the Third Street Promenade Bloomingdales in Santa Monica. It’s literally the best Bloomies- (even better than NYC) I have to say. I felt so happy in that bathroom, so I had to take some pics. I thought I was alone, until some woman walked out of the stall and was so confused as to why I was doing a photo shoot. Awkwardddd.

Wouldn’t you want to live here too? Look at those awesome chairs, gold plated mirrors, beautiful tile. A shitter fit for a queen! :)

Cassie’s Queen of the John Look: Shoes by Forever 21, Shorts by Kimchi Blue, Shirt by Title Unknown, Belt by abercrombie kids, Bracelet by Black Swamp.
