Day 121: Typical Ann

I will start by saying I love my Grandma Ann (Dzienny) dearly, but BOY is she a crack up! The latest.

My grandma is still very old school and has specific “cleaning clothes” that she wears around the house for her chores (ripped capris and stained shirts are the norm). When I came by to visit, she was wearing an old Goodwill-type of t-shirt with a yellow print, holes, and bleach stains. I told her the shirt was really cool in a hippy kind of way. In fact, I thought it would make a great staple underneath a cool jacket, and asked if I could have it as my birthday present. She said, “Ew..this cleaning shirt? With stains? Well..this is basically trash!” I told her I really loved it and thought it could be very hip. Then she said, “Well…if it’s in style, OBVIOUSLY I don’t want to give it away. Sorry!” HA! The shirt she was about to trash…

Latest visit home, she bribed me with it. What do you think? I dig the stains.

Grace thinks I look like the girl from The Wild Thornberry’s. I didn’t get the reference, but I don’t think it’s a compliment!

Cassie’s Gma Look: Ann Dzienny Shirt, Zara Shorts, Matisse Boots, Vest by Doma, Bracelet Sophie’s Sister.

Day 120: Something Borrowed, Something Blue…

Ok, finally the wedding pictures I have been talking about for days. We went to the most classy, gorgeous, and perfect wedding I have ever seen. Starting with the beautiful blonde bride, and gorgeous black groom, with a stunning string quartet as we overlooked the ocean and the sunset, followed by a gospel singer belting bible songs that gave everyone chills. The bride and groom wrote their own vows, which were so touching and lovely, that there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. In fact, I had so much mascara running down my face, it was hard to recover… and I didn’t even know the couple!

Here are some of the highlights:

Cheers! And thanks Sophie’s Sister for an amazing David Meister gown!

Day 119: Life’s a Beach

Ya know how it is traveling with a family and having to please groups of 14+ … Tricky! I have yet to get to a computer today but will update tonight. Here’s a sneak peek of tonight’s gown by David Meister!! I love!

Day 118: Better Late than Never!

So I have 20 minutes left of this day- I almost didn’t make it (panic mode!). I was on a flight all morning, then straight to Newport Beach to celebrate a wedding. If you remember back to January (http://ihavetude.com/2012/01/30/day-30-lifestyles-of-the-rich-and-the-famous/), I was at the Pelican Hill Resort, which is stunning. I am now back for the weekend, and have the most gorgeous, Oscar-worthy dress to wear to the actual wedding tomorrow. Stay tuned for the big reveal :)

Night!

Wearing my Lush dress, Ray Bans, and Alice+ Olivia Jacket to meet and greet.

Day 117: Monsters and Beatles and Birds, OH MY!

I’m up to my ears in choreography this week, doing solos for adorable little ones dressed up as green monsters, birds, Dracula, Lady Gaga, and more! At night, I’m so wrapped up in it, I can’t fall asleep….last night especially! All of the batteries in the fire alarms in our entire house decided to stop working at the same time, forcing my Dad to run around the house screaming in the middle of the night. Talk about a night mare!

Anyway, back to fashion tomorrow, when I return to the sunny side of the world.

Happy Thursday.

Day 116: Newport Beach…Starring ME!

Remember back in February when I talked about the dance job where they closed down the highway and I was barefoot? (Refresh your memory here: http://ihavetude.com/2012/02/05/day-36-delirious/).

Well, I was finally able to see the finished product, and am quite thrilled! Here is a link to the video and some behind the scenes photos. It was such an awesome shoot, because I was dancing again, and because I was on a closed down highway in LA. Who gets to experience that?! Lucky me!

Watch video here! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSED_8LwXIU&feature=player_embedded

The inspiration was based on a Muybridge Dance clip here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbKZBHeeloU. Edward Muybridge was an English photographer who studied movement with people and animals on a grid screen. Shout out to Lisa Eaton who helped with choreography, and the amazing stunt drivers that kept me alive!

Day 115: Fast Food Inc.

I thought it was fitting to do a blog on food today, probably because I’ve been eating too much of it in Ohio. You really have to go the extra mile to make healthy choices here, but no worries…bread is ALWAYS available. Carb Hangover.

Anyway, we incorporate a lot of food into our dance costumes as well, which always makes for a crowd pleaser. Here are the latest food fashions to catch my eye!

Day 114: 50 Shades of Grey

I can’t help but follow what’s trendy in books. This month it’s “50 Shades of Grey,” the trilogy by EL James. However, I’m not sure it’s appropriate to carry around! It’s promiscuous, scandalous, and 100% PURE entertainment! One of those crazy dance days, so I will let you get to reading!

Grey photos by: Shawn Arrington, Enrique Vega, and Vanessa Bieler.

Day 113: Private Dzienny

I had an audition in LA last week and was told to watch the Goldie Hawn movie, Private Benjamin, to prepare for the character. I absolutely loved the movie! It was such a great 80s flick, and you can’t help but love Goldie Hawn. In fact, one of my favorite movies of all time is Overboard. If you do not know these two movies, get them instantly on Amazon! They’re hysterical.

Here’s my best shot at recreating the look…an 80s boy scout uniform from Goodwill!

On a side note, Company C danced in Detroit this weekend (notice the grey fuzzy sky in my pics?), and did excellent! I didn’t catch the greatest pics on my phone, so will keep you updated soon when I can grab better ones!

Cassie’s Boyscout Look: Shirt Goodwill, Jeans by True Religion, Boots by Miz Mooz, Tank by H&M.

Day 112: Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

Remember that movie, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants? It’s likely that you don’t…but it was the movie about a group of friends who traveled for the summer and shipped a pair of pants around the world to share. I always thought the concept was dumb. I mean, what same pair of pants would fit big mama, America Ferrara (far left), and then tiny little Alexis Bledel (far right)? It just never made any sense to me. At the Dzienny California abode, we spend many a day fighting over clothes. After arguing for the same pair of jeans, I realized that “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” might not be so far fetched! Tars, Grace, and myself are all shaped quite differently,  yet we still are able to share clothes. I guess that makes me the “America Ferrara” of the family, always stretching out the jeans. Shooooot.
