Day 60: Thug Life

In the hood…ma.

Ha. I can’t even try to be hood…but I am obsessed with my new Chaser hoodie. Who pays a lot of money for a damaged hoodie with holes? This girl does. New uniform FO SHO.

Cassie’s Hard Knock Life Look: Jeans by J Brand, Boots by Ecole for Urban Outfitters, Shirt by Wildfox, Sweatshirt by Chaser, Hat by Pins and Needles for Urban Outfitters, Glasses by D&G.

Day 59: Spanx a lot?!

I was on my way to an audition this morning, wearing a skin tight, red sexy dress. In order to give some extra curves, I borrowed a pair of Spanx to throw underneath. I looked like a Home Ec 101 project before I got the dress on ( Spanx rolled up high, a push up bra, banded waist, safety pinned straps, etc). I could barely breath, but looked okay on the outside. I get to the car and start driving, when I feel that something is off. I look down, and the Spanx have a built in hole DOWN THERE! Umm….what?! Easy access? Pee hole? I don’t get it!?! Like what woman is too lazy to take off the spanx? Let’s just say…I was very aware of crossing my legs at this particular audition! WOWZERS! Too much info to post on the internet? Yea…probably. But I feel it’s my duty to warn women worldwide to check their spanx before leaving the house!

Rainy LA look:

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes:

Yzma’s makin a come back (my dancers used to call me that because of my bony chest. Compliment? I think not):

Cassie’s Spanx A Lot Look: Romper by Staring at Stars for Urban Outfitters, Shoes by BCBG, Bangles from Sophie’s Sister.

Day 58: I’m like Jessica Chastain, with less class.

Oscar Sunday…my favorite Sunday of the year (other than Easter of course…love jelly beans… but definitely better than Superbowl Sunday). Grace and I had a blast watching the red carpet this year and picking out our fav looks. My first question is…who brought back chokers? I mean…Kristen Wiig got ripped enough for her look at the SAG Awards, and then Olivia Wilde copied the look for the Vanity Fair Party? I don’t get it. I will add that Nicklaus Dzienny shed tears over Meryl Streep’s speech thanking her husband. We’re definitely sensitive at this household.

See choker mess here. (Reminds me of Fem Bots from Austin Powers or some other weird robot)

Others got it right. Those that stunned on the red carpet:

Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton

Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen

Milla Jovovich in Elie Saab

Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford (it was much better without the cape at the actual awards)

What was with Angelina’s weird stick your leg out pose all night? I just wanted to give her a sandwich. Also, while watching the awards, I told Nick he slightly resembled Brad Pitt. He said he usually get’s Tom Brady (not bad considering he nabbed Giselle). Grace continued the convo, saying everyone tells her she looks like Scarlett Johansson ( yea… like that’s a bad one). I either get Jessica Chastain but less classy…or Kathy Griffin. See how this is not fair?

Day 57: And the Oscar goes to…

First off, I’d like to thank The Academy…

In preparation for the Oscars, I am dedicating this weekend’s blog to my favorite Oscar looks of all time. I cannot wait to see what the red carpet holds for the 2012 Academy Awards…so stay tuned! I will also be indulging on many carbs tonight–eating for all those poor actresses who’ve starved all month for the event! I got your back girls.

Here are my favorite looks:

1. Julia Roberts in Valentino

2. Charlize Theron in Gucci

3. Michelle Williams in Vera Wang

4. Natalie Portman in Rodarte

5. Hilary Swank in Gus Laroche

6. Amy Adams in Proenza Schouler

Also, my favorite gown I’ve ever worn was made by Michael Costello, from season 8 of Project Runway and currently on Project Runway All Stars. This dress fit perfectly and made me feel sexy and SKINNY (well maybe I was just really skinny then…shit). Maybe I’ll rethink all the bread…but regardless, kudos Michael C!

Day 56: Flowers? For me? Aww you shouldn’t have!

Yea…no one sent me flowers, but that would be lovely! Hint hint, boyfriend. Even though Madge hates hydrangeas (watch this clip it’s hilarious http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-45U8RYhOH0), I love them! I am also loving designs by Mary Katrantzou. She released a line for Topshop this month (which sold out in minutes), and the pieces all incorporated different mixes of floral prints.

Take a look:

Her show at London Fashion Week this past Tuesday, was also divine. The detail in each piece is exquisite, along with the color choice, and structure. I just hope I will be fortunate enough to one day wear one of her designs!

And…if you love flowers too, and want to send me some…I will gladly give you my address! :) There will definitely be more florals in my wardrobe to look forward to!

Cassie’s Blooming Look: Dress by Silence + Noise from Urban Outfitters, Shirt by Zara, Bracelet by Betsey Johnson, Leopard socks by Free People, Booties by Matt Bernsen, Glasses from LF, Earrings vintage from Ray’s Ragtime. See here: http://ihavetude.com/2012/01/03/thrifty-nifty/.

Day 55: Mind Games

While acting, it’s really fun when you get to play a character that’s totally the opposite of you. Today, I channeled my inner Rooney Mara from The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo, and spent all morning listening to Led Zeppelin, growling at people, and spitting out obscenities to get amped up for an audition. I also woke up with a huge zit on my nose (lovely), so I decided to pull out a fake nose piercing (rhinestone with eyelash glue). I found it very effective in helping to get into this particular character. About an hour later, I did a complete 180, and had to play a hotel concierge that was proper and sweet, packing a lunch bag with apples and oranges. Unfortunately, the nose piercing did not work for this one.

Some days I feel a little schizophrenic, switching moods so quickly…and yes, I’m aware that I’m giving you a Myspace face in the above pic.

Roony Mara’s style rocks. Check out some of my fav looks:

Mara’s edgy and daring…Now for the opposite, Cassie’s hotel concierge look: clean and conservative.

Cassie’s Resort Worthy Look: Shoes by Tory Burch, Dress by Rachel Ray, Glasses by NY Look.

Day 54: Grease Lightning

Lightning bolt shirt, greasy hair…this post is pretty self explanatory. I have been rehearsing all day for an audition where I need to be edgy, so that was the look I was going for. I was also inspired by these lightning bolts. Of course, Gaga copied off of someone again… but I’m guilty too!

Great Lightning Looks:

David Bowie

Kate Moss

Lady Gaga

Cassie Lee

Cassie’s Electric Youth Look: Shoes by All Saints, Turquoise Jeans by J Brand, Lightning bolt shirt by Unif, Leather jacket (zip off sleeves) by Doma, Glasses by Thierry Lasry, Bracelets from kiosk downtown.

Day 53: I’m a Chrashter, HELP!

I was born and raised in a Catholic family, but I have to admit, lately I’ve become one of those people that all Catholics dread….A CHREASTER! Yea…I didn’t know what that word meant either, but my Aunt Shannon liked to throw it around a lot when I was a kid. A Chreaster is a person who only goes to church on Christmas and Easter, therefore making it difficult for the regulars to sit in their pew of choice. In Ohio, we don’t have a lot going on, so we get really worked up over these kinds of things.

Another Catholic practice that I’m really crappy at is the Lenten sacrifice. I’m probably going to hell, but I usually choose to give something up for Lent that will help kickstart my Spring Break diet. You know, it’s great to give up foods that will decrease the waistline and hip area. So, what should it be this year? Chocolate? Carbs? Fatty Foods? Food in general? It starts today… clearly I’m behind! HELP!

And just so the fam doesn’t have a panic attack while reading this, Grace (our little angel) is forcing me to go get ashes today. So I’m more like a Chrashter (Christmas, Ash Wednesday, and Easter church goer). Take that Aunt Shannon!

Cassie’s Ashy Look: Boots by École, Pants by Helmut Lang, Sweater by Rodarte for Target (old), Blazer by Pinky Otto, Necklace from Bebe, Glasses by D&G.

Day 52: Fin Controversy

(Who would spray paint their child’s hair even redder than it already is? Tars. And the blush? Tars. Handmade outfit? Tars. Professional photo shoot for Halloween? Tars. Thanks mom, you really went all out.)

I was looking at Katy Perry’s new ad for GHD hair products, when I started thinking about how trendy mermaids are. So many celebrities take inspiration from mermaids, and then battle with each other over who came up with the idea first. Let’s be real, folks. We have all fantasized about being Ariel, but if they were to cast someone now, it would DEFINITELY be me!

Katy Perry as mermaid in ad (and rumored to be mermaid in new music video):

Lady Gaga as mermaid, who’s convinced Katy Perry copied her look:

Bette Midler as mermaid in wheelchair, who heavily inspired Lady Gaga (or Gaga just plain ripped her off):

Rihanna as mermaid on Vogue cover, before Katy Perry or Gaga even thought of it:

Blake Lively as mermaid, ripped from Rhianna:

Madonna with mermen…(Gaga I have a feeling you saw this one too):

Paris Hilton as mermaid (she’s gross so she doesn’t count):

Cher in the movie Mermaids. Still love “The Shoop Shoop Song” from that soundtrack:

Ariel as mermaid, the most famous of them all:

Darryl Hannah as mermaid in Splash, before Ariel was even created!

Attention ladies of the Fin Community, you are clearly all ripping each other off, making it very difficult for the public to decipher who is actually original. Let’s go with a new theme next time. Pirates anyone?

Practicing my “Part of Your World” moves…nailed it!

Cassie’s Mermaid Moment: Shoes by BGBG, Dress by Jordan Taylor Collection, Pink bikini by BCBG, Bracelets vintage, Ring from Urban Outfitters, Necklaces assorted vintage, Earrings from Sophie’s Sister.

Day 51: I’m Expecting!

I’m so elated and happy to announce I am expecting a little one like…tomorrow?! Ewww! NOT.

Actually, I was asked to help out in Carlos Knight’s music video (kid from Supah Ninjas). In the song, he tries to get into a club and gets denied, so he ends up sneaking in with a group of misfits (preggo lady being one of them). It was a really fun song, sort of Will Smith Prince of Bel Air meets Little Wayne. I will say, when I put on the belly, I almost had a panic attack. Guess my mothering instincts are not in bloom yet. They made me look really pretty. When I saw the scrunchie coming out of the makeup kit, I knew I was doomed. I don’t think I’ve ever looked worse!

Cassie’s White Trash Look: Dress by Forever 21, Heels by Steven, Jacket by H&M, Necklace by H&M, Scrunchie from the trash can.
